Comments:
He has the power, grace and agility of a cat. The short coupled loin and the perfect hind leg give the scope required of international jumping
horses today.
In 2005, at 5 years of age, he cleared every young horse class he started, was Champion Young Horse at the Heart of the Continent jumper
show in Winnipeg and top 5 year old in the Alberta Show Jumper Championship Futurity at Spruce Meadows. He also challenged the older
horses on their own turf placing in the top 8 in the Winnipeg Thank You Pris at 1.2 meters (4') and winning the 1.1 meter class at the ASJA
championship show. He placed third in the CWHBA high jump competition, clearing 1.7 meters on his first attempt.
In his stallion approval, Case, was given 9's for both jumping temperament and technique as well as 9's for canter. Case's first foal was
awarded class 1 by the Swedish evaluation team.

Before being imported to Canada in 2001, Ikoon competed in Interanional Show Jumping in Europe with great sucess. This incuded a Nations Cup double clear performance for Holland, a second place finish in the 1999 Dutch National Championship and third in 2000 with rider Leopol van Asten. He was shown in 2002 in Canada with good results proving to be very competitive in both the jumper and hunter rings. Due to breeding duties he has been retired to the breeding barn.
Ikoon is the only NA-KWPN stallion fully approved and activated in Western Canada. Ikoon is a beautiful model with a wonderful intelligent personality. He is a real gentleman in any thing he does. This stallion is sure to be what all performance horse breeders will be looking for to improve their program. Ikoon has offspring in Holland as well as Canada.

Comments:
Under the saddle of the double Olympic bronze medal winner and double European Champion, Marco Kutscher, Portland L has now entered international level competitions and proved to have talent for the highest courses.
In 2002 when Portland L was seven years old and in his first advanced level season, he entered 18 shows and took home 17 first and other place ribbons in medium and advanced level jumping.
In 2000 and 2001, his success account was filled with a series of ribbons from tests for young jumpers, including a qualification for the Bundeschampionat.
At his performance test in Münster-Handorf in 1999, Portland L received the dream score of 10.0 from the outside riders in the jumping test.
Portland L was accepted into the Westphalian sport promotion program on the basis of his achievements and the abbreviation "NRW" was added to his name.
Portland L's first crop produced an approved son and his off-spring have won tests for young jumpers and qualified for the Bundeschampionat.
His son, Pirol, was sold at the P.S.I. auction and later took an excellent 6th place at the 2004 World Championships for five year old jupers in Lanaken/BEL.
In the meanwhile, Portland L has been sold to Canada where he will continue his career in breeding and sport.
Portland L, bred by Fritz Ligges himself, has a unique combination of two stallions of the century in his pedigree, Pilot and Ramiro.
Pilot, a trademark stallion in Westphalian breeding, is also the sire of Pirol B/Lesley McNaught/SUI, P.S. Priamos/Dirk Hafemeister and Ludger Beerbaum, Prinzregent/Norbert Koof,
Pro Pilot II/Edouard Couperie/FRA, Pilatus/Alberto Valdes/MEX, Showtime/Nick Skelton/GBR and the team Vice Champion, Isovlas Pialotte/Steve Guerdat/SUI and Edwina Alexander/AUS, just to name a few.
Ramiro also produced enormous numbers of world class horses, e.g. the Olympic team bronze winner, Ramzes/Fritz Ligges, the Olympic team winner and 2nd place individual,
Royal Kaliber/Chris Kappler/USA and, of course, Ratina Z (1992 under Piet Raymakers 2nd at the Olympic Games and 1993 World Cup winner with Ludger Beerbaum, team World Champion in 1994 and team gold at the Olympic Games in 1996).
Portland L's dam, Ranaschun, also produced the licensed stallions, Gameton (by Gonfarm and a medium level jumper), Cobra (by Cornet Obolensky) and Lapaz L (two-star advanced level jumper by Larry) as well as the advanced level jumper,
London L (by Larry) and the medium level dressage horse, Dux L (by Dinard L). Ranaschun's daughter, Rauna, produced a licensed stallion successful in advanced level called Versus (by the Thoroughbred Vif argent) and her daughter, Dimena,
produced the one-star advanced level jumper, Na und (by Norton L). When bred to Ribot, Portland L's granddam, Usch, produced the Grand Prix horse, Roger/Dr. Reiner Klimke, and when bred to Ramiro she produced the licensed stallion, Rodney.
Rodney was internationally successful under his breeder, Fritz Ligges (reserve riders at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles/USA), and sired two licensed sons. His off-spring active in sport have earned nearly 500,000 Euro so far.
